Gradings

karate belts

On top of causing service interruptions to our karate and cardio kickboxing schedules, Covid-19 has also affected our monthly grading programs.  During this shutdown we have been offering classes and training tips on our website through our new “Online Dojo”.  The entire belt curriculum is included, as well as motivating classes to keep students training at home.  We are also offering “live” Facebook and Zoom classes so Shihan can interact with and watch students train.

One of the main aspects of our karate programs at Bernardo Karate is the belt structure.  Belts are used as short term goals for students to measure their progress towards earning their Black belt.  As this shutdown prolongs we have decided to try and re-institute this portion of the program.   We understand there were a number of students who were ready to grade in March/April before the shutdown, so we have created an opportunity for students to grade this month.

Students who feel they are ready to advance to the next belt level can send in a video of themselves performing the requirements listed below.  Once Shihan has watched the video and decides the student has achieved the necessary requirements, a curbside pick-up of the belt and certificate will be arranged.

Here are the steps to follow for grading in the month of May:

Step 1 – Call the Oxford Studio to register 519-659-2504
